I would write about piano again, but that would center this whole blog on music, but it's supposed to be centered on school. I would guess that it really doesn't matter, but I think I'll write about Spanish this time. We are reading this small, easy book in Spanish in class. I'm really more off on my own with it, and I hope that's not a problem. The rest of the class is translating everything word for word, while I'm just understanding most of the Spanish. I'm reading it no different than I would read in English. I'm doing this because I want to improve my Spanish comprehension, rather than my translating skills. I don't mean to sound conceited or anything, but my translating skills are fine, for where I am. Besides that, babies don't go around translating English word for word into Baby-Speak, so why think of Spanish like that? There's no time to think in a conversation anyway.
The opportunity to learn another language is something to be grateful for. It is always an opportunity that should be taken. My biggest pet peeve, however is when people take a foreign language class for the wrong reasons. These classes should be taken because one truley wants to learn the language and not because it looks good on a college application. It is my opinion that the classes won't look good if you can't even speak the language.
Spanish is not the first foreign language I have studied and will not be the last, that is, if you consider studying the basics of Japanese grammar to be studying a foreign language.
haha
I could probably go on for days about this, but I really should stop now. I might continue at a later date.
